Here are the magazine layouts I created for Voyageur Magazine at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay. This first layout is a cover that was designed, inspired by one of the articles that is to be published in this issue. It combines two different historical artworks into one image. This design was not used in the final magazine.
These layouts are for an article that was being reprinted from a previous issue. For this I had to create a new layout. This article is about a group of women from Green Bay, Wisconsin who were involved in several local organizations. My concept was to present the images like photographs on a wall as a means of preserving a memory. This connects to both the idea of looking back at local history as well as recalling the past of Voyageur Magazine. This article, like the other Anniversaries articles in this issue are marked with an anniversaries logo. I also designed this. This design is meant to be the image of a clock, in reference to the concept of time and looking back on the past. I angled the hands of the clock so that they can be the letter "A" in the word "Anniversaries". The version I used on my article states includes the phrase "100 Years" because this article is referring to history from 100 years ago. I also made alternates for other articles that say "25 Years" and for "50 Years" as well as a version that does has no text and only tick marks to mark time on the clock.

I also created layouts for the Reviews section of Voyageur, where pieces of media describing local history are discussed and analyzed. The review on the left is on the recent Hometown Stories documentary on the city of Appleton. The review on the book Wisconsin Riffs: Jazz Profiles from the Heartland by Kurt Dietrich. I chose colors that worked with each other well as well as complimented the images that I would be using. Since the Hometown Stories logo, I chose a light blue background. The Green in the Wisconsin Riffs background compliments the green in the book cover. I also chose additional imagery based on the reviews. The layout on the left has a map of Appleton, and the review on the right has an image of trumpet player Bunny Berigan, who was mentioned in the review.
